Thanks Jim! If he gets traded, that's going to be scary for the back of the Mariners bullpen. I'd love to see Fields get a shot, but he really needs to pick things up. He's sporting a 5.40 ERA over 20 innings at Double-A, far from promising. He has a ton of talent and potential, but with that type of performance, seeing him put into a high-pressure situation in the majors doesn't seem likely.

Being a Mariners' fan, I thought I'd chime in to tell you that the buzz is that with Beltre now out, the M's will likely be sellers--the only problem being that the 2 players likely thought to be big trading chips--Erik Bedard and Adrian Beltre--are now out and unlikely to be traded.

So, that leaves Jarrod Washburn and--you guessed it, David Aardsma--to be traded. And since Aardsma is the classical "sell high" based on what you said for real life(and also in the fantasy sense), I'm guessing he won't be the closer for the Mariners in another month.

Who would take over? It's anyone's guess, but the 2 names I'd bank on are Shawn Kelley and Joshua Fields, the M's 2008 1st round draft pick. Either one has great closer stuff and would get a nice look-see for the rest of the 2009 season(maybe they would both get a shot.) :)
