Minor Notes (A release and a trade)

A few prospect notes this evening:

  • I’m pretty surprised, but according to The Arizona Repbulic (click here for the article), the Arizona Diamondbacks have released Jamie D’Antona, “so he could sign a professional contract with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Japan’s Central League”.  A former 2nd Round Pick in 2003, D’Antona played primarily at Triple A last season hitting .365 with 21 HR and 79 RBI over 419 AB.  He also had 17 AB for the Diamondbacks.  If you were considering him as a sleeper for ‘09, you could safely cross him off your list.
  • Bob Dutton of The Kansas City Star (click here for the article) is reporting that the Kansas City Royals have traded Tyler Lumsden to the Houston Astros in exchange for a player to be named later.  Lumsden, a former first round pick (34th overall) in ‘04, went 3-13 with a 7.21 ERA at Triple A last season.  I’d say it’s safe to ignore him in all formats.
