Evening Roundup #2 for 8/14 (Penny, T. Jones, more)

There are a few little odds and ends that are worth mentioning:

  • Tony Jackson of The Los Angeles Daily News (click here for the post) is reporting that the Dodgers Brad Penny is going back to the DL with “shoulder inflammation”.  There was no official word as to who will replace him, but it could be Eric Stults (recalled to replace him), Jason Johnson or someone else, depending on “whoever is rested and ready the next time it comes up”.  Jackson points out that while the Dodgers could the rotation spot, it doesn’t appear like they will.
  • Jackson also says that Cory Wade has also been placed on the DL with “shoulder inflammation”, with Tanyon Sturtze also being brought up.
  • According to Steve Kornacki of mlive.com (click here for the article), the Tigers will be bringing Todd Jones back to the majors, sending Freddy Dolsi to Triple A.  There is no word on if he will resume the closers role, but given the status of the Tigers bullpen, it wouldn’t surprise me.  If you are desperate for saves and don’t care about a potentially high ERA and WHIP, he’s your man.
