Afternoon Roundup (Percival, Carpenter and more)

A few notes, other then the Yankees moves, have cropped up this afternoon:

  • Troy Percival has been placed on the DL, due to a “cartilage injury in his right knee”, with Juan Salas being recalled to take his place on the roster, according to Marc Lancaster of The Tampa Tribune (click here for the post).  There is no word as to who may replace Percival as closer, but the prime candidates would be Grant Balfour and Dan Wheeler.  Take the flyer if you’re desperate for saves.
  • Bob Dutton of The Kansas City Star (click here for the article) is reporting that the Royals have sent Kyle Davies to Triple A, with Jeff Fulchino being promoted.  Davies is expected to return when eligible and Fulchino will be pitching out of the bullpen, as Ron Mahay “hasn’t pitched since Aug. 6 but remains on the active roster”.  No real fantasy impact here.
  • Chris Carpenter has officially been placed on the DL, according to tsn.ca (click here for the article).  Brian Barton was activated to take his spot on the roster, with Brad Thompson starting tonight in his place.  It was already known he was going to be at least skipped in the rotation as he suffers from a “strained pitching shoulder”.
  • Tom Glavine is back on the DL, according to the team’s official website (click here for the article), due to a “strained left elbow”.  Matt DeSalvo was recalled to take his spot in the line-up.  Glavine had not been much of a fantasy option this season, so there’s no real loss here.
