Three “Cheap” DFS Options for May 4: Michael Saunders, & More

by Ray Kuhn

It is Monday and another week is upon us. Let’s jump right into three cheaper options that could help you in your DFS lineups tonight:

1) Ike Davis – 1B – Oakland A’s
Through a month, the move to Oakland has certainly agreed with Davis. His performance isn’t jumping off the table, .280 with one home run and nine RBI’s, but he has turned into a dependable option. Davis has an improved approach at the plate and has bought into hitting to all fields. Tonight he faces a right-hander in Phil Hughes who has already allowed six home runs on the season.

2) Chris Owings – SS – Arizona Diamondbacks
There is a game in Coors Field, and we are looking for exposure in it; this should not come as a surprise. It makes Owings a viable option against a struggling left-hander in Tyler Matzek. So far this season it is hard to fully buy into Owings as anything more than a temporary option as he is hitting just .205 in 21 games and averaging 2.38 Fantasy Points per game. However, if Owings is batting at the top of the order, using him at shortstop is a good way to save money for options like Paul Goldschmidt.

3) Michael Saunders – OF Toronto Blue Jays
Had Saunders not begun the season injured, his salary would likely have priced himself out of consideration for this article. He has gotten off to a slow start hitting .222 in 27 at bats, but he has two hits in each of his last two games. The Blue Jays will score runs and Saunders looks to be finding his groove.
