Evening Roundup (Weeks, Torres and more)
A few notes for everyone this evening, besides the big news surrounding Ian Kinsler:
- Tim Haudricourt of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (click here for the post) is reporting that Rickie Weeks doesn’t “expect to miss more than another day or so” due to his sprained thumb. We have always heard about his potential, but he certainly has not lived up to it. He certainly has value, still, so just find a healthy option for now in deeper formats.
- Haudricourt also reports that Salomon Torres “was available for the game tonight after experiencing some groin tightness over the weekend”. He certainly needs to be in there when healthy as one of your closers.
- According to The Chicago Tribune (click here for the post) the White Sox will have Clayton Richard make the start tomorrow. Given his 9.64 ERA and 2.07 WHIP over 14.0 innings earlier this season, he’s not a pitcher I would recommend gambling on quite yet.
- Jesus Flores is listed as day-to-day after the results of an MRI showed a “sprained right knee”, according to Chico Harlan of The Washington Post (click here for the post). He has emerged as a must use catcher in all formats, so I’d monitor the pregame line-ups to see when he is ready to return. Hopefully he’s not out for too long.
- Joe Smith of The St. Petersburg Times (click here for the post) is reporting that “Al Reyes declined his outright assignment to Durham and is now a free agent”. He’ll catch on somewhere, but I don’t see him as having much fantasy impact anyways.
- Kirk Saarloos was recalled by the A’s, according to Susan Slusser of The San Francisco Gate (click here for the post), with Wes Bankston being designated to make room. He’s simply up to pitch in the bullpen, so I wouldn’t look to him at this point.
