Pirates make a host of moves
According to Rob Biertempfel of The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (click here for the article), the Pittsburgh Pirates will make 3 roster moves today, bringing back:
- Matt Capps
- Doug Mientkiewicz
- Tom Gorzelanny
There is no official word as to who will be sent out, but Biertempfel speculates it will be Nyjer Morgan, Romulo Sanchez and possibly Jason Davis.
Capps has immediate value in all formats, as I would expect he will slide right back into the closers role. Mienkiewicz is of no real value to fantasy owners, so ignore h im in all formats. Gorzelanny is expected to take the mound Saturday and certainly has the potential to be of use to owners in deeper formats. I wouldn’t touch him yet, given his 6.57 ERA and 1.83 WHIP earlier this season, but monitor his progress. If he shows signs of returning to form, I wouldn’t hesitate to grab him.
