Hitter of the Week:
It was an extremely close this week, but with some speed Brian Roberts was able to distinguish himself from the pack and take home the award. He went 11-29 (.379) with 4 HR (tied for second), 8 RBI and 8 R (tied for first). What really separated him from the other players in contention was the 3 stolen bases he added, tying him with three other players for the most in the league over the past week.

The comeback of Chris Carpenter has simply been an amazing story this season and he certainly deserves to be honored for it. There’s little doubt that he’s going to take home the NL Comeback Player of the Year Award, as he simply continues to get the job done. He picked up a pair of victories this week, doing so with a 1.20 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over 15 innings of work. Throw in 14 Ks (just one behind the leaders for the week) and he becomes an easy decision.
