Quentin out for season

An article from Rick Gano of The Associated Press has been posted on The Star Tribune’s website (click here for the article), and the news certainly isn’t good for the White Sox.  Carlos Quentin is scheduled to have surgery on a broken wrist on Monday, virtually ending his season.  As for the procedure, “A screw will be inserted into the wrist, and he will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks”.

This is devastating news for the White Sox, as Quentin was hitting .288 with 36 HR and 100 RBI.  They do have depth, as both Nick Swisher and Paul Konerko should see regular playing time the rest of the way, as the log jam created by the Ken Griffey Jr. deal has now been solved.

Still, the numbers he was producing will be extremely difficult to replace.  It sounds like you should just move on and find whatever you can on the waiver wire at this point.  If he’s at least 3 weeks out, his regular season is over though I guess there’s a chance he makes it back for the playoffs.
