Randy Johnson out for tomorrow

Randy Johnson, scheduled to start tomorrow, has been replaced by Max Scherzer according to Jack Magruder of The East Valley Tribune (click here for the article).  Johnson is apparently suffering from “left shoulder inflammation” and is expected to start as scheduled next Saturday instead.

Scherzer was tremendous in the minor leagues this season, despite just a 1-1 record.  In 13 appearances (10 starts) he posted a 2.72 ERA while striking out 79 batters in 53 innings of work.  For the Diamondbacks he’s posted a 2.65 ERA over 34 innings, striking out 34.  He should be owned in all keeper formats, as well as yearly leagues, if he is going to remain in the rotation.  At this point, it appears to just be for one start, and a tough one against the Dodgers at that, so I wouldn’t do anything drastic.
