Morning Roundup (Lowell, McCarthy and more)
A few notes to kick off the morning:
- Don’t look for the Indians Adam Miller as a starting pitcher in ‘09 according to Sheldon Ocker of The Akron Beacon Journal (click here for the article). Assistant GM Chris Antonetti was quoted as saying, “He will be a starter in the instructional league in Arizona, then move into the bullpen in winter ball”. We’ll see what that means for the future, but for now he shouldn’t be viewed as a fantasy player next season.
- There’s a chance Brandon McCarthy pitches again this season according to The Star-Telegram (click here for the article). The strained flexor tendon he suffered is “so minor that it might not have required a stint on the disabled list had it occurred earlier in the season”. There’s an off chance that he pitches the final weekend of the season, but only time will tell. There really isn’t no benefit from having him start, so my guess is he doesn’t make the start and I wouldn’t count on him even if he does.
- The Miami Herald has a few articles worth noting:
- Click here for an article that talks about Mike Lowell, who needs “four or five more days to rest his sore hip”. Leave him on your bench in all formats.
- Click here for an article discussing Michael Young, who “aggravating his fractured right ring finger during an at-bat” and was forced out of the game. Monitor the pregame line-ups at this point.
