Around The League: April 25: Evan Turner, Jan Vesely and More

Two more days left to win that championship of yours. Thursday is a full day and it’s going to be a big one for making that final step, but there are enough games to try and make a difference today too.

Playoff teams are getting locked in and seeds are being determined which means we’re going to see a lot of stars resting on the bench and lot of unpredictable fantasy value being seen. Here are some of the guys I like as streaming options today for daily league players:

C.J. Watson – PG, Chicago Bulls: With the Miami Heat losing last night to the Celtics the Bulls have locked up the number one spot in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls will be walking the fine line between playing it safe and keeping Derrick Rose healthy by resting him and taking a risk and trying to get Rose in playoff shape. My guess is Rose gets some rest and at the most plays only a handful of minutes to stay fresh. Watson has done well filling in for Rose this season when called on and he should see plenty of time against the Pacers second unit as they also don’t have much to play for. Watson could be a sneaky play for assists and points tonight.

Daequan Cook – SG/SF, Oklahoma City Thunder: I can’t imagine the Thunder have any intention of rushing James Harden back when they really don’t have much left to play for right now. Last night with Harden out Cook got 21 minutes of playing time and ended up with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 treys. He could end up reproducing those kind of numbers tonight if not improving upon them. Denver is not a defensively great team and they are particularly poor defending the three-pointer, that’s a good combination for Cook to have a nice game.

Tiago Splitter – PF/C, San Antonio Spurs: The Spurs really don’t have much left to prove to the league and in their attempt to keep everyone fresh and ready for the playoffs you should see everyone on this team get some playing team against Phoenix tonight. The guy I have my eye on is Splitter who has proven an ability to put up pretty decent numbers if he is given the chance to play. He should get the chance to play tonight and a matchup with the Suns interior defense is particularly appealing. I think Splitter ends up with a double-double tonight and possibly a couple blocks to go along with it.

Jan Vesely – PF, Washington Wizards: Assuming that Trevor Booker sits out again tonight than Vesely will continue to be a decent sleeper pickup in fantasy leagues. Vesely had a breakout game the other night against the Bobcats with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Over the last five games Vesely is averaging nearly 10 and 7 with almost two steals per game as well. I don’t know how convinced I am by the long term value of Vesely, but for tonight, he makes a decent sleeper pickup.

Evan Turner – SG, Philadelphia 76ers: The 76ers are going to be sitting Lou Williams, Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand. Yet they are still playing a defensive struggling Milwaukee Bucks team and someone has to step up to the plate for them. No guarenteehere, but my gambling money is being placed on Evan Turner who might be my favorite pickup of everyone on this list. Turner has slowed down a lot since his hot streak last month, but we saw what he was capable of during that stretch and some big minutes against the Bucks defense might be just what he needs to regain that magic.
