Around The League: April 26: Zach Randolph, J.R. Smith and More

Well it all comes down to today now. After keeping those lineups going and faithfully watching that waiver wire if you are still in the battle for the top of your league or your H2H championship than today could be the determining factor for all the hard work you’ve done for the last four months.

We have a pretty full slate of games today so you should be able to field a full roster of players for today’s action. Just make sure you are monitoring your players status updates throughout the day to find out if any of your stars are sitting cause there will be a lot of them who are.

If you’re looking for some fill-ins here are some of the guys I like to end this season on a high note:

Zach Randolph – PF, Memphis Grizzlies: The Grizzlies are one of the teams who still have something to play for as they are in line to try and steal home court advantage from the Clippers for the first round of the playoffs, which could be a big deal. The Girzzlies big man has been inconsistent lately, sitting out  two games ago and not performing well in his last game Monday. But after a couple of days off and in a big spot I think Randolph is primed for a big game. He has thrived in big game situations these last couple years and I think he comes through again tonight against a beaten down Magic frontcourt.

Jordan Hill – C, Los Angeles Lakers: There isn’t much left to play for in LA other than a scoring title. So Kobe Bryant will be playing and bringing his A game to try and overtake Kevin Durant for the scoring lead. Meanwhile there is a chance that every other member of the Lakers starting unit will sit. The one guy I assume will be a surefire rest tonight is the chronically injured Andrew Bynum, so big things could be in store for Jordan Hill who is already coming off a nice performance on Sunday. There won’t be a lot of points or shots to go around cause Kobe may put up 50 shots, but Hill should do well on the boards, grab a couple blocks and put up at least ten points on Kobe’s putbacks. The Lakers are playing the Kings so even with Kobe on the floor there should be plenty of points to go around.

Patrick Mills – PG, San Antonio Spurs: The Spurs rested the big three last night and with nothing to play for tonight either I assume they do the same thing. Mills went for 27 points, 5 assists and 3 treys against the Suns last night as the starting point guard and he should be in for another big game tonight against the Warriors. I assume this will be a high scoring game and Mills may be one of the better scorers out there on the floor for the Spurs in this one. Pay attention to what the Spurs are going to do with their stars, but if they are sitting or even playing reduced minutes, Mills makes a nice last day grab.

J.R. Smith – SG, New York Knicks: Another team who still have a little something to play for is the New York Knicks, though there really isn’t much difference between and a seventh and an eighth seed. Either way, Smith has been playing big minutes lately going over 30 per game on a regular basis and he should be in line for those same kind of minutes tonight. Smith has been stuffing the stat box lately doing more than just chucking up threes and scoring points. In his last five games he is averaging over four rebounds and four assists per game and almost has three steals per game. If you are in the running for your points, three-pointers or steals categories than Smith could be a huge boost to making a last day push.
