The Four Point Play: Highlighting DFS Targets For 11/02/16 Games

by Will Overton

A 10 game slate the day after a nine game schedule is like a NBA DFS player’s dream as we have grown accustomed to one big day followed by a smaller slate. Hopefully you picked up some cash last night and we can keep the good vibes rolling tonight. Let’s take a look at some the guys I will be targeting in DFS tonight:

Damian Lillard – PG – Portland Trail Blazers
Winning in DFS games isn’t only about finding value and sleepers at a cheap price, though that is a big part of the puzzle. You also have to know who to pay up for at the top because you obviously can’t afford all the top players. There’s been a lot of buzz about the likes of Russell Westbrook and James Harden, but Damian Lillard is doing his best to keep up with them so far this season. Lillard also comes in at $3,300 cheaper on Draft Kings then what Westbrook is.

Lillard also gets the Suns tonight in a prime matchup as well. It’s early, but the Suns are surrendering 112 points per game so far and have already been beat up by some of the league’s best point guards, so now it’s Lillard’s turn. Lillard isn’t as strong of a double-double or triple-double threat as Westbrook or Harden, but he’s a scoring machine and you almost have to expect another 30+ point performance tonight.

Trevor Ariza – SF – Houston Rockets
So far this season Trevor Ariza has been hit or miss, but I’m banking on him having a big performance tonight at Madison Square Garden. We just saw the Detroit Pistons wings pick the Knicks apart last night with Marcus Morris scoring 22 and Tobias Harris dropping 25. As a scorer Ariza has been boom or bust so far, but he should boom tonight. The nice thing also is that even if the scoring isn’t there, he does so many other things that you’ll probably still get at least 25 fantasy points from him. I like Ariza a lot and I think we’ve yet to see his best.

Cody Zeller – C – Charlotte Hornets
One of the reasons that I prefer Lillard to some of the more expensive guys playing today is that I don’t love the value at the bottom of the pool. One cheap option I am taking a look at though is Cody Zeller. It doesn’t look like Roy Hibbert will be returning to the court tonight as of now, and so Zeller should be seeing the bulk of the minutes at center. That’s good news for daily fantasy players because the Sixers can be taken advantage of at the center position. Zeller won’t blow you away I am sure, but he’s got a shot at a double-double and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pull down 30 fantasy points.\

Bonus Notes For The Night

  • If you’re looking for a contrarian play tonight at point guard you may want to take a look at John Wall. The Wizards point guard is getting overlooked and I expect a low ownership tonight against the Raptors as Kyle Lowry is considered one of the better defenders at point guard. The Raptors just had Emmanuel Mudiay post a solid total against them, and Kyrie Irving had a massive game before that on them. Wall is almost a lock for double-digit assists it feels like and he could make a nice, cheaper and less owned option in GPP’s.
  • I’m going to continue riding Bojan Bogdanovic as a cheaper option at the shooting guard position. He doesn’t do a lot of things, but he gets a lot of minutes and he is going to put up a lot of shots on  bad Nets team. Bogdanovic is a three-point marksman and that can lead to a lot of fantasy points at a cheap price. The Nets are going to be a good source of cheap fantasy production all season as the mantra of decent players on bad teams make good fantasy players rings very true.
