Week 10 Rankings (2014): Top 15 Kickers

by Eric Stashin (aka The Rotoprofessor)

Kickers are often overlooked, but there are times where they could actually be the difference between winning and losing in a given week.  Who is the best options for Week 9?  Let’s take a look:

  1. Dan Bailey – Dallas Cowboys – at Jacksonville
  2. Justin Tucker – Baltimore Ravens – vs. Tennessee
  3. Phil Dawson – San Francisco 49ers – at New Orleans
  4. Mason Crosby – Green Bay Packers – vs. Chicago
  5. Dan Carpenter – Buffalo Bills – vs. Kansas City
  6. Cody Parkey – Philadelphia Eagles – vs. Carolina
  7. Shaun Suisham – Pittsburgh Steelers – at New York Jets
  8. Matt Bryant – Atlanta Falcons – at Tampa Bay
  9. Nick Folk – New York Jets – vs. Pittsburgh
  10. Billy Cundiff – Cleveland Browns – at Cincinnati
  11. Steven Hauschka – Seattle Seahawks – vs. New York Giants
  12. Graham Gano – Carolina Panthers – at Philadelphia
  13. Cairo Santos – Kansas City Chiefs – at Buffalo
  14. Mike Nugent – Cincinnati Bengals – vs. Cleveland
  15. Chandler Catanzaro – Arizona Cardinals – vs. St. Louis

Thoughts:

  • Nick Folk is arguably the best offensive weapon the Jets have, the problem is he hardly gets an opportunity to display it.  Forget piling up extra points, he’s attempted 1 field goal or fewer in five of his past six games.  That’s a reflection on the Jets’ offense, but with the Steelers being prone to field goals against them he is well worth the “gamble”.  If he were guaranteed more opportunities he’d be a Top 3 option, but should still be viewed as one of the better plays in the league.
  • While Mason Crosby isn’t highly ranked amongst kickers this season, a lot of that has to do with two games without an attempt.  He’s 6-for-6 over his past three games, as well as picking up 10 extra points, and faces a Bears’ team that’s allowed 18 field goals on the season.  Consider him one of the better options in the league for the coming week.
