Week 11 Rankings: Top 15 TE
While there are a few tight ends who are clearly better than the rest, we all know that the position is generally a crap shoot from week-to-week. So, with that said, let’s take a look at how we think they are going to fall for Week 11:
- Tony Gonzalez - Atlanta Falcons - at New York Giants
- Dallas Clark - Indianapolis Colts - at Baltimore
- Vernon Davis - San Francisco 49ers - at Green Bay
- Antonio Gates - San Diego Chargers - at Denver
- Heath Miller - Pittsburgh Steelers - at Kansas City
- Kellen Winslow - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - vs. New Orleans
- Visanthe Shiancoe - Minnesota Vikings - vs. Seattle
- Brent Celek - Philadelphia Eagles - at Chicago
- Greg Olsen - Chicago Bears - vs. Philadelphia
- John Carlson - Seattle Seahawks - at Minnesota
- Jason Witten - Dallas Cowboys - vs. Washington
- Jeremy Shockey - New Orleans - at Tampa Bay
- Dustin Keller - New York Jets - at New England
- Kevin Boss - New York Giants - vs. Atlanta
- Todd Heap - Baltimore Ravens - vs. Indianapolis
Thoughts:
- With Michael Turner likely out, the Falcons may use a short passing game as an alternative to the run. That scenario would certainly benefit Tony Gonzalez, who takes on a Giants linebacking corps that has struggled. All you have to do is look at the last two games: Antonio Gates (5 catches for 67 yards) & Brent Celek (4 catches for 61 yards and a TD).
- Will this be the week Jason Witten finally gets back into the end zone? He’s still a usable option, but it’s getting tough, isn’t it?
- Kevin Boss has proven to be one of the tougher tight ends in the league. With the Giants struggling to convert in the red zone, would it be a surprise to see the team come out of the bye week with plans to get him more involved? That makes him worth considering depending on your situation.
It’s likely the Jets use the running game, as well as short, smart passes in an attempt to control the clock and keep the ball out of Tom Brady’s hands. As it is, Keller has 14 catches over his last two games and another one could easily be in his future.
