Thoughts:

  • Despite a few down weeks from Amari Cooper I still believe in him and the Raiders offense. Buffalo’s pass defense isn’t bad, but that doesn’t mean Cooper will be held in check. Oakland is a pass first offense and they won’t change their game plan. If the matchups for others were a bit better he might not come in this high, but I think he’s a WR1 given what’s in front of us.
  • I feel like we say this every week, but it’s another week where we know that the New Orleans Saints passing game is going to blow up, but we don’t necessarily know who gets the rub from it. I have Michael Thomas as the lead guy because he’s been the most consistent week to week and seems to be emerging as a favorite in the red zone. I also have Brandin Cooks as a Top 20 receiver, despite his big fat zero performance last week. This matchup is just too good to let Cooks ride your bench.
  • This last week was a good sign for Brandon Marshall owners who have been beside themselves with frustration as he caught six passes on nine targets for 67 yards and a TD against the Patriots. This was Marshall’s first TD since Week 5.  He benefits from Ryan Fitzpatrick taking back over as starter, but that doesn’t make him a lock top play. This week Marshall and the Jets take on the Colts and their woeful secondary, so if he can’t put up big numbers he may not be cracking the Top 20 again for a while.
  • We were reminded again last night of how much Aaron Rodgers likes to look DaVante Adams’ way when the Packers get near the end zone. The problem is Adams often gets forgotten about a bit too much outside of the red zone and he can be a bit TD dependent, despite the couple weeks of high volume targets that may have been an outlier. Adams is always going to be a bit of a risky play, but the high reward is very alluring.
  • There have been a lot of disappointments at the wide receiver position so far this season, but one of the tops is Jarvis Landry. The Dolphins go to wide out just can’t seem to gain any traction at this point. He has only two TD’s and while that isn’t a huge surprise, the fact that he hasn’t been making up the points with receptions and yards is surprising. Landry hasn’t topped 53 yards in the last four weeks and while his 18 catches isn’t bad, it’s not that great either. He is no longer a sure starter and in a lot of leagues he’s a WR3/FLEX play at best.
  • I have admittedly turned a blind eye to Taylor Gabriel for too long, but he most certainly has my attention now. Gabriel caught two TD passes this last week and now has four of them in his last four games. He is very TD dependent right now and not a supreme play in PPR leagues, but he is a high risk/high reward option along the same vein as a DaVante Adams.
  • Another guy grabbing our attention as of late is Tyreek Hill. The absence of Jeremy Maclin has given Hill a chance to really burst onto the scene the last few weeks. This last Sunday he caught nine passes, including a TD grab, and also ran in a TD from three yards out. Hill is a playmaker in the truest sense of the word, and while Jeremy Maclin may be back this week, though I don’t trust that, I think the Chiefs will be doing whatever they can to get the ball in his hands in any way possible.

    Hey Prof,
Hope u had a great thanksgiving. I still need ur opinion on line up.
    Cousins or Rivers
I will obviously start J Howard. 2nd rb? L Miller, Rawls, L Murray or Ingram?
3rd WR? M Jones, M Thomas, M Floyd or new quirks Tyreek Hill?

  2. Stephen says:

If J Reed ultimately cannot go this week, do you think I should roll with Rudolph tomorrow night or hold out and throw V Davis in Sunday?

  3. Keith says:

    10 team Yahoo Standard:
    QB:
    Tom Brady, Philip Rivers
    WR:
Jordy Nelson, Jamison Crowder, Rishard Matthews, Donte Moncrief, Kelvin Benjamin
    RB:
David Johnson, Le’Veon Bell, Matt Forte, Dion Lewis, IR – Charles Sims
    TE:
    Tyler Eifert
    K:
    Justin Tucker
    Def: KC Chiefs

I have one open bench spot and due to the matchup with KC@Atl I’m torn between picking up Baltimore D or add another possible receiver with strong upcoming matchups like Tyreek Hill, Dontrelle Inman, or Taylor Gabriel

  4. Eric B – Rivers // Miller // Thomas

Stephen – I guess Rudolph, but don’t love either option

Keith – How many WR do you play? Don’t think you’d use those guys over what you have anyways, though, so I’d prob. roll with the D

  5. Krysta says:

14 team, 0.5 PPR. Evans and Jordy as WRs. Gordon and Ingram as RB’s. Option for flex are: Landry, Stewart, Starks, Shepard?

  6. Wolverine says:

    Std — sit one
    RBs – D. Martin, M. Gordon, S. Ware
WRs – Tyrell Williams, Amari Cooper, D. Moncrief

  7. johnson says:

Hey prof, need help for week 13, my current lineup is:

    QB: Brees
    RB: Zeke and Mccoy
    WR: Amari Cooper, T.Y Hilton
    Flex:Marvin Jones
    DEF/ST: Seattle
    K: Dan Bailey
Bench: Emmanuel Sanders, Sammy Watkins, Terrelle Pryor, Alfred Morris, Mike GiLL, Crowell, Colin Kaepernick.

Need help on my flex play and WR 2 since Luck is still on concussion protocol. Starting Hilton is contingent on Luck playing. So again, who should I start on flex? And who should i start as my WR 2 if Luck is out? Thanks !

  8. sam says:

    Hello Professor,
    12 team std league.
Who should I start in flex? I have Cobb, West, Inman. I also have Gronk but his health is concern.

  9. Krysta – I guess Stewart

Wolverine – I guess Williams, but it’s a good problem to have

johnson – If Luck is out I’d go Watkins at WR2 & Sanders at FLEX. If Luck plays, Watkins is the FLEX

    sam – I’d go Cobb

  10. Gman says:

I was cooked by Cook’s big fat zero last week and need a win this week to make the playoffs in a full point PPR league.

Need one of three for my final flex spot…

    Ingram, Graham, Cooks

    Thanks!

  11. Jon says:

    12 team standard
    Pick 3
    Jordy Nelson vs Houston
    Edelman vs LA
    Crabtree vs Buffalo
    Stefan Diggs vs Dallas

I gonna play Neson but i can’t decide which other two to pick, help please!

  12. Gman – Cooks has the upside, as they could try to feed him the ball to nmake up for it, but Ingram is the “safe” choice. Really depends on how you want to roll the dice

Jon – Nelson, Diggs & Edelman

  13. Carmen says:

    Hey prof

at flex I have a couple options- Moncrief, Diggs, Britt and Wallace, I’m leaning Diggs but Moncrief has had a touchdown in each of his last few games..opinion?

    Thanks

  16. Haggy says:

Do you still like Watkins over Tryeek Hill or Tyler Boyd this week since Watkins is complaining about his foot again ?

  17. Cara Stewart says:

Hi there! For my flex spot should I play Riddick at RB or Davante Adams or Pryor??
Also do you play survivor?? Im one of 5 left and I have one strike left. Who to pick this week?? Denver, Seattle or Green Bay????
    Thanks!!!

  18. usmc22 – I don’t think you need both, but couldn’t hurt. Sanders/Smith probably the cuts, but that’s good problems to have.

Haggy – I’d see how the news progresses. If he’s banged up, I wouldn’t use him.

Cara Stewart – I do like Riddick this week, but it’s really, really close with Adams (though he’s not a guarantee to get opportunities, which is why Riddick has a slight edge)

  19. David says:

    Professor

16 Team PPR League need a win this week to win my Division,

Starting QB – Ryan, Kicker I’m going with Novak over Gano.

Would you start Eifert over Cooks, Baldwin, or Nelson this week. Cooks killed me last week but I think he will bounce back this week.

Start at RB West or Sproles – I have Gurley as my other RB.

    Thanks

  20. Matthew says:

    Hey Prof,

I need one more WR to go with Julio and Evans

You like Crowder, Adams, or Cooper? .5 PPR LEAGUE

  21. David – I wouldn’t push Eifert over them, though I get the appeal. I’d prob. go Sproles, but don’t love either

    Matthew – I’m going Cooper

  22. Keith says:

    10 team standard scoring
    Pick 3
    Jordy Nelson vs Houston
Donte Moncrief @ Jets with Luck back at QB
Jamison Crowder @ Ari with Reed out and Cards giving up yards
Tyreek Hill @ Atl with Maclin ruled out
I have Kelvin Benjamin @ Sea but I can’t really see starting him over any of the others with the way that offense has been playing and all the O-line injuries

  23. STEVEN says:

edelman, cooks or baldwin. i have to bench one
