Thoughts:

  • With Aaron Hernandez or without Aaron Hernandez, Rob Gronkowski has been a tremendous target for Tom Brady and the Patriots.  He has at least 86 yards and 1 TD in all three games, with 281 yards and 5 TD on the year.  Going up against the Oakland Raiders, is there a question who the top option is this week?
  • Jimmy Graham was heavily hyped prior to the season and, at least so far, he’s been living up to it.  He’s fourth among TE in yards (235), tied for seventh in receptions (14) and has added 2 TD.  There’s a lot to like at this point, especially when he has Drew Brees throwing him the ball.
  • Jason Witten leads all TE in targets, with 32.  Would anyone have guessed that the next two on the list would be Tony Gonzalez (24) and Dustin Keller (23)?
  • Owen Daniels has been getting better and better and better as the season progresses.  After a slow start, he has 8 receptions for 101 yards and 2 TD over the last two weeks.  We all knew he had the potential to be a must use option this season and he’s living up to the hype.
  • I’ve left Antonio Gates off the rankings, for now, as it sounds like he is going to miss another week of action.  Obviously, if he plays consider him a must use option.

    Poor Gates :(

    So, right now I have Gates and also Davis, which would be okay from your ranking, except that Davis plays at 1 and Gates at 4:15 so it’s bad if Gates is a really game time decision. Should I drop Davis and pick up McMichael?

    (Also, poor Shiancoe isn’t even the top 20? That’s also sad!).

    Is Fred Davis still the man in WAS? Cooley had 4 catches to Davis’ 1 last week against a defense that has been especially porous to TEs this year (15/214/2). This week WAS faces STL, the #1 defense against TEs (7/77/0).

  3. Triz – I’d probably play it safe and roll with Davis. I like his upside more than McMichael’s, who hasn’t really produced much, even when Gates is out of the lineup.

    fiji – It’s not like Cooley had been targeted significantly more (5 to 3). Plus, in Week 2 Cooley and 0 catches vs. Davis’ 6 receptions for 86 yards and 1 TD. Things don’t change just like that, so I would look towards Davis as a viable option still.

    Okay then, just to check my roster again:

    QB: Rivers (Fitzpatrick, playing Rivers again so the Bills <3 will continue to win)
    TE: Davis, probably sitting Gates
    D/ST: Steelers
    K: Janikowski

    2 WR, 2 RB, 1 WR/RB – thinking of starting:

    Foster (I am playing the league heavyweight this week – if SOMEONE doesn't show up, I am losing anyway);
    Ryan Mathews;
    Calvin Johnson;
    Stevie Johnson <3 ;
    and David Nelson <3 .

    (As you can tell, I am SO HAPPY the Goon Squad is getting it done!).

    Other people on my bench:

    Santonio Holmes
    Mike Tolbert
    Willis McGahee
    Roy Helu
    Jacoby Ford

    People I can pick up that you have talked about lately:

    Hardesty, Kendall Hunter, Delone Carter, Stevan Ridley.

    Anything? Just hold what I have? I am bound to lose this week so don't want to do anything short-term and rash. Ironically, I am going to get crushed by the only other female in my league! (Currently tied for first).
