Week 12 Rankings: Top 15 Kickers

While kickers are often an afterthought for fantasy owners, they shouldn’t necessarily be. Let’s take a look at our Week 12 rankings:

  1. Mason Crosby –Green BayPackers – atDetroit
  2. David Akers –San Francisco49ers – atBaltimore
  3. Dan Bailey –DallasCowboys – vs.Miami
  4. John Kasay –New OrleansSaints – vs.New YorkGiants
  5. Matt Bryant –AtlantaFalcons – vs.Minnesota
  6. Nick Novak –San DiegoChargers – vs.Denver
  7. Jason Hanson –DetroitLions – vs.Green Bay
  8. Robbie Gould –ChicagoBears – atOakland
  9. Mike Nugent –CincinnatiBengals – vs.Cleveland
  10. Neil Rackers –HoustonTexans – atJacksonville
  11. Stephen Gostkowski – New England Patriots – atPhiladelphia
  12. Shaun Suisham –PittsburghSteelers – atKansas City
  13. Sebastian Janikowski –OaklandRaiders – vs.Chicago
  14. Billy Cundiff –BaltimoreRavens – vs.San Francisco
  15. Steven Hauschka –SeattleSeahawks – vs.Washington

Thoughts:

  • David Akers has been among the best kickers in the league this season, despite having missed five field goals. He has made 26, including five from at least 50 yards. Going against a tough Ravens defense, would it be surprising to see the 49ers settling for three points often? Continue to consider him among the best options in the league.
  • The Washington Redskins have allowed the most field goals in the league this season at 24. Steven Hauschka may not have been the best kicker this season (16-for-18 and only 16 extra points), but the matchup does appear favorable. The desperate can consider him in deeper formats.
  • We all know how good Sebastian Janikowski, but it’s clear that he’s hurting right now and it’s effecting his performance. Until he proves healthy, you are going to want to consider him more of a last resort option.

does this sound crazy? since I have a 3.5 game lead on playoff spot I am planning playoff matchups already. Decided to keep 2 kickers – Hansen and Kasey. Kasey has an outdoor game at Tenn in week 14 and Hansen is indoors vs minn. Kaseuy has better matchups weeks 16/17…
