According to the team’s official website (click here for the article), the Bengals will use Chris Perry as their starting RB over Rudi Johnson. Coach Marvin Lewis was quoted as saying, “I have to see Rudi play and practice, practice, practice and then play” in regards to what it would take for Johnson to return to a starting role.
I’m not sure if this will be something permanent or not, but it certainly gives Perry value in the later rounds of your draft. Even as a starter, I wouldn’t consider him one of the top RB available and more of a depth option at this point. That could change if he actually does hold down the starting spot. Take the flyer for your bench, but don’t count on him as a starter.
