Thursday Night Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em: Ravens vs. Browns: Anquan Boldin, Greg Little & More

Must Start Options
Quarterback - Joe Flacco (Bal)
Running Back - Ray Rce (Bal), Trent Richardson (Cle)
Wide Receiver - Torrey Smith (Bal)
Tight End - Dennis Pitta (Bal)

Options to Discuss:
Quarterback – Brandon Weeden – Cleveland Browns
While he posted a good game in Week 2, his other two starts have seen him total 355 yards, 1 TD and 6 INT. Taking on a very good Baltimore defense, is there any reason to consider him? Even in two quarterback formats, you should have a better alternative available to you.
Verdict – Sit ‘Em

Wide Receiver – Anquan Boldin – Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens new up tempo offense has been impressive, but a lot of the opportunities have gone to Torrey Smith and Dennis Pitta. With Ray Rice also in the mix, just how many opportunities are there going to be for Boldin? He hasn’t had more than 4 receptions or 63 yards in a game and has a total of 6 catches for 55 yards over the past two games. Sure, the potential is always there for a big day (he did have a TD in Week 1), but this early in the week why take the risk? Maybe in the deepest of formats, but I probably wouldn’t look to roll the dice given the other options on Baltimore.
Verdict – Sit ‘Em

Wide Receiver – Greg Little – Cleveland Browns
Many entered the year thinking Little could be the perfect third receiver for their fantasy squad. However, the results have not yet been there. He went without a catch in the first game and managed just 2 receptions for 17 yards last week. Sure, he produced in Week 2 (5 catches for 53 yards and a TD), but if he hadn’t scored even that would’ve been a bust. Drops have once again been an issue. According to Mary Kay Cabot (via Twitter):

“Shurmur on Little: ‘When he goes out in the game, got to catch ball. Can’t play a guy that’s going to drop footballs.’”

That’s really all we should need to know. He is way too risky to trust right now.
Verdict – Sit ‘Em

Wide Receiver – Mohamed Massaquoi – Cleveland Browns
With 9 catches for 145 yards, he may be the Browns best receiver right now. Doesn’t that really tell you all you need to know? Of course he also is battling a hamstring injury and may not play.
Verdict – Sit ‘Em

Other Browns Receivers – Josh Gordon/Joshua Cribbs
Someone has to step up and make plays, right? Unfortunately this is a completely unpredictable situation and it is impossible to trust anyone right now.

Tight End – Jordan Cameron – Cleveland Browns
With all the issues to the wide receivers, Cameron is the name to watch. He registered 5 receptions for 45 yards in Week 3 after picking up nothing in the first two games. The upside here is high, especially with all of the problems the team has on the outside. While he is a big risk for Week 4, he could quickly become a hot name on the waiver wire. Monitor his production this week.
Verdict – Sit ‘Em, but he is worth watching

RotoPro I’m in a slight pickle at the moment. I’ve got QB’s Stafford and Flacco. As you know, Stafford is dealing with a leg injury and so far there is no news indicating his status for Sunday. Would you recommend going with Flacco to be safe or is waiting on Stafford a wiser move. So far, Flacco has been outperforming Stafford anyway. Thanks.

  2. AP says:

I’m seeing Pitta as a must start everywhere… but would you start him over Gates this week? Gates has been beyond disappointing.. I keep playing him because every week is bound to be his breakout week. But it never is. Thoughts?

  3. Joseph says:

Flacco or newton? Everytime I bench cam he hits 30…but against Atlanta?

  4. AP – I have them back-to-back so I would consider it a gut call. I agree with you, Gates has to breakout sooner or later, and e does have a favorable matchup. I would lean Gates, but Pitta is the safer option (surprisingly). I just think Gates has mor upside.

Joseph – I know it’s tough t bench Newton given his potential with his legs, by. Still go Flacco tha week.

rain in Baltimore? I have my tE, wr, d/st, k, and qb!!! Do I need to rethink this? Newton, Hill (det), Garcon, whitten,on bench
