Must Start Options:
Quarterback - None
Running Back - Steven Jackson (Stl)
Wide Receiver - Larry Fitzgerald (Ari)
Tight End - None
Options to Discuss:
Quarterback – Kevin Kolb – Arizona Cardinals
He has definitely made the most of his opportunity, with 752 yards and 7 TD. However, his Week 4 performance (322 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT) was by far his best yard wise and it came in a shoot out against a Dolphins’ defense allowing the third most pass yards per game (297.8). The Rams play the pass much better than that, so I would temper expectations. He is a low-end QB2 at best.
Verdict – Sit him outside of the desperate two-quarterback format
Quarterback – Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams
Bradford continues to fall short of the expectations everyone had for him, throwing for 221 yards or less in three of his four games. Over his past two games he has 0 TD vs. 3 INT. Like with Kolb, it is hard to trust him outside of the deepest of formats.
Verdict – Sit him outside of the desperate two-quarterback format
Running Back – Ryan Williams – Arizona Cardinals
With Beanie Wells out, Williams will have his opportunity to entrench himself as the starter in Arizona. He faltered in his first game, but as I said before this should be the week for him to bust out. The Rams are among the worst rushing defenses in the league, allowing 135.2 yards per game as well as 6 TD. I would expect the Cardinals to give Williams ample opportunity to produce, meaning big numbers could be on the horizon.
Verdict – Solid RB2 in all formats
Wide Receiver – Danny Amendola – St. Louis Rams
Fantasy owners have been waiting for a receiver to step up in St. Louis and it appears Amendola finally has. While the upside isn’t necessarily as high as some other receivers, he is the go to option in this passing game. Through the first four games he has been targeted 44 times, with the next highest player being Brandon Gibson at 19 (who is far too risky to trust this early in the week). There is no reason to think that anything is going to change in that regard. He has 31 receptions for 351 yards and 2 TD, making him enticing, especially against a defense that has yielded 89 completions thus far (placing them in the middle of the pack).
Verdict – Good PPR play, otherwise consider a low-end WR2/high-end WR3
Wide Receiver – Andre Roberts – Arizona Cardinals
After posting somewhat unspectacular numbers through three weeks (9 catches for 111 yards and 2 TD), Roberts erupted against the Dolphins for 6 catches, 118 yards and 2 TD. It was a great outing, but can we really think he can replicate those numbers against a Rams defense that has allowed just 2 receiving touchdowns this season? We all have seen receivers break out only to come back to earth the following week (i.e. Kevin Ogletree, Ramses Barden, etc.). While that doesn’t mean I am against adding him on waivers, trusting him would be a mistake.
Verdict – A bit too risky, unless you are in dire need of a WR3
Running Back – Daryl Richardson – St. Louis Rams
He has had some nice moments, averaging 5.0 yards per carry, but if Steven Jackson is healthy Richardson is nothing more than a change of pace back.
Verdict – Not usable

You really think Steven Jackson is a must start tonight?
Obviously if you are loaded, then no. In most cases, I would expect him to be in lineups though. As long as we don’t get news of the injury flaring up, I would. He has a favorable matchup and should get opportunities to produce.
I have Ray Rice, Chris Johnson, Matt Forte, and Steven Jackson.
So Jackson should be the odd man out?
Pick 2:
Andre Roberts
Colston
Maclin
I would definitely go with Colston. The other two are both somewhat risky options. I would probably go Maclin, but it is closer then I would’ve expected.
Why is Maclin risky? Injury? What do think of him for the rest of the season?
Jackson or cin wr hawkins ?
Steve jackson or hawkins
two out of
Trent Richardson
Ryan Williams
Maurice Jones-Drew
I’ve got Eric decker in my flex spot right now because I could see Peyton tearing apart the NE defense with the help of decker but could also see Ryan Williams really busting out against the porous STL defense. Who do you think is the safer bet?
gmoney – I do like Maclin for the rest of the season, but with injuries and the struggles of Vick, it is easy to call him a risk.
Mike mike – I’m going Jackson on that one. I like Hawkins, but it is far from a guarantee he produces.
Cecily – As much as I love Williams, it’s MJD and Richardson
Brian – Wow, that’s a tough one. I generally go with the RB, as I do think Williams as a higher upside. However, he is by far the riskier option. In a likely shootout against NE, Decker is “safer”.
Thanks. Much appreciated. Decker locked in. Now I can just watch the game and see if Williams has the type of stuff that would make me more confident throwing him in as a flex.
Thanks. Your website is awesome btw. Love how quickly you respond.
