Week 6 Rankings: Top 15 Defenses

Let’s continue our Week 6 rankings by looking at the top defenses for the coming week:

  1. Atlanta Falcons – vs. Oakland
  2. Minnesota Vikings – at Washington
  3. Arizona Cardinals – vs. Buffalo
  4. Baltimore Ravens – vs. Dallas
  5. Pittsburgh Steelers – at Tennessee
  6. St. Louis Rams – at Miami
  7. Houston Texans – vs. Green Bay
  8. Cincinnati Bengals – at Cleveland
  9. San Francisco 49ers – vs. New York Giants
  10. Miami Dolphins – vs. St. Louis
  11. New England Patriots – at Seattle
  12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – vs. Kansas City
  13. Philadelphia Eagles – vs. Detroit
  14. Indianapolis Colts – at New York Jets
  15. Detroit Lions – at Philadelphia

Thoughts:

  • This week the Houston Texans’ defense is going to be put to the test in taking on the Green Bay Packers.  They remain a good play, as they are the best defense in the league, but it’s easy to imagine them giving up some points.  Just temper expectations.
  • The Arizona Cardinals defense has been good, but we will find out if they can truly stop the run.  They are in the middle of the pack, with 103.0 rushing yards allowed, and the Buffalo Bills will send out C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.  We’ll have to see if the Cardinals defense is up to the test, but they are a good group that has 17 sacks, 5 INT and 6 fumble recoveries.
  • The Philadelphia Eagles have a strong secondary and Matthew Stafford has been struggling.  That’s definitely not a very good mix, is it?

  1. Mike W says:

Should I trade Frank Gore to get Calvin Johnson in return?

My RBs are Gore, Mendenhall, Mcfadden, Doug Martin

My Wrs are Andre Roberts, james jones, brandon gibson, steve smith.

PPR league and I need to start 2 Rbs 2 Wr and 1 flex

    • While it does leave you a little light in RB, it is an absolute steal to get Johnson for that price. I would make that trade in a heartbeat.

Are there any RB on waivers you can pick up to add depth?

  2. marc says:

should I drop J Stewin’ on my bench for k hunter, b powell, hillis, ballard, wilson, a brown, alex greem, starks, or stay put? Also, drop avery for t young, meachem, m williams, henderson, or stay put? thanx

    • I covered the Stewart in your other comment, but I’d keep him

As for the WR, I think I’d def. drop Avery as I like all the other options you mentioned. Young may have the most upside, but he’s been the worst of the bunch so far. So, it really depends what you are looking for. A high upside stash or someone to use?

  3. Brenden says:

Chicago is my DEF and with them on the bye I picked up MIA, after this STL was dropped to waivers. Is STL an absolute must to replace MIA with these 2 teams playing against eachother in Miami?

  4. david says:

Would you suggest starting miami defense over houston’s for week 6 in ppr?

  5. Elvis says:

I have the falcons defense but week 7 is a bye week. Who would you recommend to pick up as a defense?
