Hold ‘Em or Fold ‘Em: Has Kendall Wright’s Fantasy Appeal Disappeared?

Are you an owner of the Titans’ Kendall Wright and are trying to decide what his value will be moving forward? Let’s take a look at the targets from Week 7 to try and help:

  • Nate Washington – 8
  • Kenny Britt – 6
  • Jared Cook – 5
  • Damien Williams – 4
  • Kendall Wright – 3

The rookie really stepped up early in the season, but now we have to wonder if he is going to continue to see a drastic reduction in targets or if Week 7 was a one time deal.

Kenny Britt appears to be healthy and obviously is the top option for the team. While he didn’t lead the team in targets this week, he should be among the top options every week and could explode at any time.

He returned to a full role in Week 6, leading the team wit 11 targets. Wright was third with 8, so it s hard to say that his return was the cause for Wright’s reduction.

You also have to consider the potential expansion of the role of Jared Cook. However, it is not like he had a huge day and was a featured part of the offense. Again, the reduced role can’t really be attributed to this.

Obviously, Britt’s return, the development of Cook and the presence of Washington are going to potentially limit the upside of Wright. As it is, he s a rookie and has the potential for inconsistency. However, he leads the team with 55 targets. He is also averaging just 8.4 yards per catch, with only two plays of at least 20 yards. This week simply could’ve been that they were looking for bigger plays, as well as focusing on the run.

The same thing could happen this coming week against the Colts, so fantasy owners are going to want to be cautious when considering him. However, in deeper formats he has proven that he has WR3 potential for PPR owners, so keep him stashed on your bench and wait for an opportunity to present itself.

What are your thoughts of Wright?  Do you think he will have value moving forward?  Why or why not?

You have answered this before for me, but I want to ask again with one more week of evidence behind us and waiver submissions tonight: Would you drop Brandon Lloyd for Kenny Britt? My other WRs are AJ Green, Harvin, and Dez Bryant. Non-PPR. Britt has never been picked up. And unfortunately, trading isn’t an option (no one seems to trade in this league), so I would just have to drop Lloyd to make it happen. Thanks!

help!! My two Wr’s who perform are both on bye weeks. I have Gibson (STL) and Jones(GB)
Garcon on bench but most likely cannot keep waiting around on him. Avail free agents- Stokley, Hill, Bess, Givens
Who should I pick up and what three to play this week??? This is a tough week!!
    Thanks

    • I have Gibson & Jones ranked as the top options from this group, so those are your two must plays (yes, it is going to be a tough week!)

I have Givens ranked next, as that should be a shootout with the Patriots. However, if you don’t want to go with two WR from the same team, Stokley isn’t too far behind.

Okay I picked up Stokley. He is a better pickup this week or Stephen Hill?? I am really grasping here 🙂
Gonna play Jones and Gibson (didnt get Givens cause yes makes me nervous having two going from one team)
