Cleveland Browns at Oakland
Yahoo – 21%, ESPN – 8.6%
The Browns defense actually hasn’t been too bad this season, totalling 28 sacks, 13 interceptions and 12 fumble recoveries. While the Raiders offense entered Week 12 on a roll, they were silenced by the Cncinnati Bengals (with Carson Palmer throwing for under 150 yards).
Oakland quarterbacks have thrown 12 interceptions and been sacked 24 times, which alone would give Cleveland chances to make some plays. It looks even better as it appears Carson Palmer has started taking more risks with the football. He has at least one interception in seven straight games, including seven picks in his past four.
While Oakland is likely going to rebound and put some points on the board, there is more than enough to like about Cleveland’s potential to make some plays.
Carolina Panthers at Kansas City
Yahoo – 16%, ESPN – 9.1%
The Chiefs offense is anemic, and that’s why Carolina is worth streaming. After scoring nine points against the Broncos, Kansas City is now scoring just 14.6 points per game. In their past seven games they have failed to score more than 16 points. In fact, during that stretch they have scored single digits in three games (including a total of 15 points in their past two).
The also have a habit of turning the ball over, having lost 16 of 24 fumbles (league worst in fumbles lost), while throwing 16 interceptions (also the league worst). Throw in 25 sacks allowed and what is there not to like?
Granted, we would all like it a lot more if the Panthers defense was actually halfway decent, but it is hard to look away give how poor the Chiefs actually are.
Deep League Flier
Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville
Yahoo – 18%, ESPN – 26.6%
The Bills were supposed to be a good defense entering the season, but it hasn’t really happened for them. They have given up a lot of points and just haven’t made enough plays to consider them a viable option most weeks.
However, when you play the Jaguars things change. Jacksonville has allowed 34 sacks this season and are one of the more pathetic offenses it the league. Granted, Chad Henne’s emergence has helped to revitalize them, so I would be a little cautious. That said, if you are desperate this is a risk worth taking.
