For the majority of fantasy owners it is playoff time. Which quarterback is going to help you move to the next round? Who is better off avoided? Let’s take a look at the rankings for this critical week:
- Peyton Manning – Denver Broncos – at Oakland
- Robert Griffin III – Washington Redskins – vs. Baltimore
- Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – vs. Detroit
- Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints – at New York Giants
- Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions – at Green Bay
- Tom Brady – New England Patriots – vs. Houston
- Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts – vs. Tennessee
- Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers – vs. Atlanta
- Eli Manning – New York Giants – vs. New Orleans
- Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons – at Carolina
- Josh Freeman – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – vs. Philadelphia
- Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – vs. Dallas
- Matt Schaub – Houston Texans – at New England
- Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys – at Cincinnati
- Colin Kaepernick – San Francisco 49ers – vs. Miami
- Chad Henne – Jacksonville Jaguars – vs. New York Jets
- Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks – vs. Arizona
- Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens – at Washington
- Jay Cutler – Chicago Bears – at Minnesota
- Brandon Weedon – Cleveland Browns – vs. Kansas City
- Carson Palmer – Oakland Raiders – vs. Denver
- Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers – at Pittsburgh
- Nick Foles – Philadelphia Eagles – at Tampa Bay
- Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams – at Buffalo
- Jake Locker – Tennessee Titans – at Indianapolis
Thoughts:
- The Oakland Raiders entered Week 13 having allowed 23 passing touchdowns vs. six interceptions. While they had two interceptions this past week, they also allowed Brandon Weedon to throw for 364 yards. That has to make us feel good about Peyton Manning, who threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns against Oakland in Week 4. It’s hard not to put him atop the rankings.
- Obviously, we all expect Drew Brees to rebound from his no touchdown, five interception game, don’t we? Look for him to try and light up the scoreboard against the New York Giants, keeping him as a Top 5 option.
- Andrew Luck is coming off a huge game against the Detroit Lions, throwing for 391 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. This week he draws a Titans’ defense who entered the week allowing 262.1 yards per game and yielded 297 yards to him back in Week 8. It’s easy to imagine him having a big week once again, though I would remain cautious. He is still a rookie and has had some inconsistent performances.
- In his last two games Matthew Stafford has thrown for 754 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Is anyone still concerned about him? He’s back to being among the better options in the league.
- The resurgence of Cam Newton continued, throwing for 232 yards and three touchdowns while adding 78 rushing yards. Over his past three games he’s thrown for six touchdowns and no interceptions while adding at least 40 rushing yards per game. While the Falcons are a tougher matchup, his ability to add value on the ground keeps him as a viable option in all formats.
- It’s Josh Freeman’s turn to take on the beleaguered Eagles’ defense. What’s not to like with that matchup?
- Will Colin Kaepernick continue to be the starting quarterback for the 49ers? Time will tell, but if he does he remains a dynamic force and is a viable QB2 in all formats. However, we just don’t know for sure and make sure you monitor the news before depending on him.
- Obviously, if Ben Roethlisberger plays he will find himself on these rankings. However, time will tell if he does or not.

Rank these guys ROS as a Flex Play:
Marcel Reece (currently own him)
Miles Austin
Danario Alexander
Josh Gordon
Dwayne Bowe
My Current RB/WRs are AP, Ray Rice, Demarco Murray, Cruz, Garcon, Steve Smith. So I’m wondering if I should drop Reece for any of the guys above.
Also… Is it time to give up on Mike Wallace?
Is it time to just drop Rivers?
Weedon and Locker are availible
Nick – Wallace should be alright once Roethlisberger is back, so. Wouldn’t panic there. As for Reece, with him now hurting and McFadden due back, he becomes a very tough play. Depending on the matchup, I would rank Austin/Alexander as 1-2 most weeks. Tis week it would be Alexander
Joe – Is he your starter? Honestly, all three are close so it’s going to be a matchup play. Any chance you ca roster Rivers and Weedon?
Bryce brown, doug martin, demarco murray, brandon marshall, roddy white, randall cobb, and pierre garcon. Have to start 2 running backs and 2 wide receivers and 1 flex( can be either running back or wide receiver). Who should i start in standard scoring league?
RB – Martin
RB – Brown
WR – Marshall
WR – White
FLEX – Cobb/Murray
The FLEX spot is an interesting debate and you really have a good problem as any of the three remaining players have a good chance of producing. I would generally lean towards the RB, but in this case Cobb is such a big part of Green Bay’s offense, especially with Jordy Nelson banged up, that I would lean that way.
Where does Big Ben slide into these rankings, now that he’s slated to play? Safer play than Weeden in KC?
Proff, would you start luck over ryan?
Tyler – Absolutely, I’d guess he’s a Top 15 option w/o looking
washington – Yea, given his play and the matchup, I would
Quarterback quandry for week 14:
Big Ben, Joe Flacco or Russell Wilson? Who would you start?
Ravens or Browns defense? I have B’More and would have to drop them
Thanks!
Should i start Matt Ryan or Eli Manning? both of them let me down for the last 4 weeks. Thanks
Johnny – Roethlisberger & Cleveland (for this week at least)
Andy – coin flip, but I’d go Eli
I have Big Ben and Romo, who should I start today?
I’d go with Roethlisberger
