Let’s continue our look at our Week 14 rankings by checking out the best kickers in the league:
- Matt Bryant – Atlanta Falcons – at Carolina
- Lawrence Tynes – New York Giants – vs. New Orleans
- Connor Barth – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – vs. Philadelphia
- Justin Tucker – Baltimore Ravens – at Washington
- Stephen Gostkowski – New England Patriots – vs. Houston
- Jason Hanson – Detroit Lions – at Green Bay
- Shayne Graham – Houston Texans – at New England
- Dan Bailey – Dallas Cowboys – at Cincinnati
- Blair Walsh – Minnesota Vikings – vs. Chicago
- Matt Prater – Denver Broncos – at Oakland
- Phil Dawson – Cleveland Browns – vs. Kansas City
- Greg Zuerlein – St. Louis Rams – at Buffalo
- Sebastian Janikowski – Oakland Raiders – vs. Denver
- Adam Vinatieri – Indianapolis Colts – vs. Tennessee
- Robbie Gould – Chicago Bears – at Minnesota
Thoughts:
- Not only has Matt Bryant been among the best kickers in the league, but he faces a defense that has allowed 32 field goals this season. There’s no other choice to sit atop these rankings for the coming week.
- While the Philadelphia Eagles continue to give up a lot of points, Connor Barth has quietly produced like one of the best kickers in the league. He has made six field goals of at least 50 yards this season, including three in his past three games. In his past four games he’s gone 10-11 on field goals (8-9 of at least 40 yards), while adding nine extra points.
- The Denver Broncos should score a lot of points against the Oakland Raiders, making Matt Prater a solid play. However, he is just 7-for-12 in his last four games and 4-of-7 overall on the road (he’s 13-of-15 at home). Those numbers are going to drop him down the rankings compared to other options.
- Greg Zuerlein showed off his big foot in Week 13, connecting on a pair of 50+ yard field goals. The problem is, he’s just not getting consistent enough attempts recently. Over his past four games he’s tried seven field goals, making four of them. That’s going to suppress his value with fantasy titles on the line.
- At home (six games) Blair Walsh is a perfect 13-for-13 on field goal attempts and overall playing in a dome (seven games) he’s gone 15-for-16. With a tough matchup against the Bears, at home, you have to think he’s going to get some opportunities to produce.

With the playoffs coming up, I am wondering if you have any advice to tweak my roster in any way.
QBs (start 1) – Matt Ryan, Big Ben
RBs (start 2) – DMC, Ridley, Morris, BJGE, Bryce Brown, Beanie
WRs (start 2) – Julio, Nicks, Jordy, Danario
TEs (start 1) – Hernandez, Gates
Flex (start 1 RB/WR/TE)
K – Graham
DEF/ST (start 1) – Broncos, Browns
DL (start 1) – JPP
LB (start 1) – Bowman
DB (start 1) – Winfield
To make a long story short, things I have been pondering include picking up James Jones (as either a replacement or handcuff for Jordy)…or picking up Amendola or Givens. Also, I feel my other most expendable players are Beanie, Gates, and the Browns (who I picked up for this week only). Would you drop any of them to bolster the WR corps, handcuff an RB, or get a backup IDP? Heck, I’m even wondering if Cook might now have a better outlook than Gates.
What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Thanks!
Well since this is the most open-ended question in the world……
1. Drop Big Ben. With Matt Ryan, you have no need for a 2nd QB
2. Drop Beanie. With Ridley, Morris and BJGE/Brown, you have no need for a 5th RB.
3. I might also consider dropping DMC. See #2 for reasoning.
4. Drop Gates. Hernandez should be good to go for the rest of the season.
5. With these new found 4 open spots you should gather up extra Kickers and DSTs… NYJ, JAX, KC, STL, BUF all have good matchups this week.
This week I have a few questions about my roster and any help would be nice
QB: Tony romo, josh freeman. I’m starting romo over freeman again this week, and I think it’s the better choice
RB: Bryce brown, mikel leshoure, fred Jackson, lesean McCoy. This week I’m starting bryce brown and mikel leshoure. I think these are my best options, but when McCoy returns, if he does, who would you recommend starting? Would you go with both Philly backs?
WR: Wes welker, demaryius Thomas, Danny amendola, larry fitzgerald, denarius Moore. Right now I’m starting welker, Thomas, and fitz, but I think fitz should be taken out. Who would you recommend swapping him for? Also, Ty Hilton is on the waivers and I could pick him up
TE: Owen Daniels, rob gronkowski
I’m starting Daniels because gronk is out. When do you think gronk is coming back?
K: jason hanson
D:Seattle. I think they’re a great option this week
Randy – Nick did a good job of summing things up (thanks Nick!). I would add a WR though, especially with Nelson hurting and likely to miss a week r two. Given Nicks’ injuries this season, I think having a little more depth there makes the most sense. I also would hold onto Gates (Hernandez’ injury issues). As far as DMC, gut call but. Would drop the extra defense first.
Sean – the RB is going to depend, but I wouldn’t worry about that now. The Eagles have no reason to rush McCoy back and risk further injury. At this point I would plan to be without him the rest f the way. For the WR, right now Hilton is your safest (and probably best) option. The others are way too risky. As for Gronkowski, who knows for sure but they have no reason to rush him.
Some other guy with a higher waiver pick got Hilton, so right now the recievers left on the waivers are Donnie Avery, danerio Alexander, davone bess, josh Gordon, or Kendall wright. Do you think any of these guys would be better than fitz, danny amendola, or denarius Moore this week? And if so, who would you drop?
Alexander is probaly the next on the list. for the drop, I’m thinkng Amendola at this point. It’s him or Moore, honestly, but Amendol can’t stay on the field and is ough to trust.
