Mailbag: Who Should I Keep, Demaryius Thomas or Danny Amendola?

Terry asks:

“I have a keeper question that I’m struggling with. Who would you keep Demaryius Thomas (DEN) as a 4th round pick or Danny Amendola (NE) as a 14th round pick. I’m thinking Thomas is a good pick up as a 4th round but Amendola is a great pick at the 14th round pick in our keeper league. I really like Thomas but I think I should be able to pick up a few good picks in the 1st 4 rounds of of 10 team ppr league. Which player would you pick.”

In a follow-up he said that the scoring is “.5 pt per reception, 1 pt per yd, 6 pts for td”

The Professor’s Take:
I am a big fan of Thomas, but the value of Amendola, in a PPR format as a 14th round selection, is too great to pass up. He’s arguably a Top 15 WR, especially assuming the Wes Welker role in New England. As long as he stays healthy he should post big numbers.

In fact, in a 10 team league, you likely will be able to grab Thomas in the third or fourth round as it is, meaning you could have both Amendola and Thomas once again anyways. Or, if you miss Thomas, you can still get a Larry Fitzgerald type after locking up your running backs in the first two rounds.

There’s too much upside to keeping Amendola in this case for me to let him go.

What are your thoughts? Which player would you keep? Why?
