Week 7 Rankings (2013) – Top 15 Defenses

by Eric Stashin (aka The Rotoprofessor)

We’ve already discussed the top streaming options for the coming week (click here to view), but how do they stack up?  Who is the best option and who should we be avoiding?  Let’s take a look at our rankings for the coming week:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs – vs. Houston
  2. Seattle Seahawks – at Arizona
  3. San Francisco 49ers – at Tennessee
  4. New England Patriots – at New York Jets
  5. Chicago Bears – at Washington
  6. Baltimore Ravens – at Pittsburgh
  7. Denver Broncos – at Indianapolis
  8. Dallas Cowboys – at Philadelphia
  9. Tennessee Titans – vs. San Francisco
  10. Buffalo Bills – at Miami
  11. Arizona Cardinals – vs. Seattle
  12. Minnesota Vikings – at New York Giants
  13. Green Bay Packers – vs. Cleveland
  14. San Diego Chargers – at Jacksonville
  15. Miami Dolphins – vs. Buffalo

  • Geno Smith has shown signs, at times, though he’s wildly inconsistent and is prone to turn the ball over.  With the injuries and sacks allowed (21) mounting, the Patriots could be in for a big day defensively.
  • The Buffalo Bills have 21 sacks and 10 interceptions on the season.  Considering the Dolphins have allowed 24 sacks in just five games, is it really hard to imagine Buffalo posting a big-time performance?  Consider them worth using in all formats.
  • Tennessee has been able to make some plays this season, but does anyone truly believe that they will stymy the 49ers?  Consider them a viable option, but not one of the elite.

  1. Ben Resare says:

    Hey Rotoprof!

I have been streaming defenses this season with good success. I was curious if you could elaborate with reasoning for your rankings. I added the Dolphins for this week but the following are still available: broncos, boys, bills, cardinals, vikings, and chargers. I think a sleeper matchup could be the Cards vs. SEA on Thursday Night Football…Who would you start here? Our scoring settings highly value low pts and low yards. You get penalized if you allow 299+ yds or 22+ points. I guess I’m looking for the biggest offensive dud out of these matchups…

    Thank you!

    • That scoring is a little bit different. If I’m looking solely for a defense that I don’t think will give up yards/points, it’s the Bills, Dolphins or San Diego. All three are decent options.

  2. Isaac says:

what should i do with my defense this week i have cincy. should i pick up greenbay/minnesota/atlanta/carolina or stick with cincy?

  3. Thomas says:

Hey, I’ve got Houston’s D sitting on the back burner for now. Just picked up Baltimore’s D, but Mia, San Diego, GB are all available. Thoughts in a standard yahoo league?

  4. Tom says:

New England is still a strong play despite all their missing players?
