Just a few minor notes to wrap up the evening:
- Rick Hummel of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (click here for the post) is reporting that the Cardinals have recalled Chris Perez, sending Nick Stavinoha down to Triple A. Tony LaRussa was quoted as saying “I’m going to look at the guys available and piece it together to the best of my ability” regarding the closers situation. If you are desparate for saves, he’s certainly worth taking a flyer on.
- According to The Dallas Morning News (click here for the post), Ivan Rodriguez was knocked out of the game between the Yankees and Rangers after a collision at home plate with David Murphy. There is no word on his condition at this point, but he “was helped off the field” and replaced by Jose Molina. It certainly is worth monitoring for those who are in leagues that require 2 catchers.
- In a separate post (click here), The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Murphy would eventually leave the game with a “right posterior cruciate ligament strain”. He is set for an MRI tomorrow, but speculation is that a stint on the DL is possible. Hopefully we’ll find out tomorrow, but those in daily leagues should definitely move him to your bench in favor of healthier options.
